Women's Health & Family Planning in the Bronx, NY

Women's health care covers the yearly well-woman visit, birth control, screening for cervical and breast cancer, and the everyday questions about periods, fertility and menopause that deserve a real answer. You can get most of it from your primary care doctor, in the same office where the rest of your health is handled.

Who this is for

  • Women due for a well-woman visit or cervical cancer screening
  • Anyone who wants to start, change or stop birth control
  • Patients planning a pregnancy who want a preconception check
  • Women with irregular, heavy or painful periods
  • Patients approaching or going through menopause
  • Anyone who needs a referral for a mammogram or to a gynecologist

What happens at the visit

  1. A conversation first

Your doctor asks about your cycle, your birth control, your plans around pregnancy and anything that's been bothering you. Nothing here is too small to mention.

  2. Exam and screening

Vitals, a physical exam, and cervical cancer screening or a clinical breast exam when they're due based on your age and history.

  3. Labs

Bloodwork may include anemia, thyroid, blood sugar, and STI screening when appropriate. Pregnancy testing is available.

  4. Birth control and family planning

Your doctor walks through the options, how each one works, what it does to your cycle, and what fits your life. Prescriptions go to your pharmacy the same day.

  5. Referrals when you need them

Mammography, gynecology, prenatal care or a specialist — your doctor arranges the referral and follows up on results.

Insurance and cost

Medicaid and most commercial plans cover well-woman visits, cervical cancer screening and contraception, frequently at no cost as preventive care. New York also offers family planning coverage programs for people who qualify.

We accept Medicaid and most managed Medicaid plans, along with many commercial plans. Coverage rules change often, so call (917) 801-0954 with your card in hand and our staff will confirm what your plan covers before your visit.

Self-pay patients are welcome. Ask our front desk what a visit will involve when you call so there are no surprises.
